What are some reasons we meditate? Well, we meditate to focus our minds, relax our bodies, let go of daily stresses, get in touch with our inner selves and or higher power, and overall to increase our physical and mental health. It just so happens that CBD oil might be the perfect pairing to enhance the amazing benefits of meditation. CBD is known for its therapeutic benefits with pain, inflammation, anxiety, sleep, but it’s also great for focus and relaxation. Just like meditation, CBD helps to restore the body to its natural balance. Whether you struggle with meditation, need that extra focus, or just want to boost your mental and physical health, using CBD for meditation might be the perfect addition to your practice.
Meditation can be tricky, sitting still and letting go can be a lot harder than it seems. It can be very difficult to stop the mind from racing. Like anything else, meditation takes practice and there are so many techniques and types of meditation that anyone can learn how.
Getting through the beginning stages of meditation can be difficult but the benefits you can gain through meditation are nothing short of amazing. Being able to direct your focus and manipulate your brain waves helps to not only reduce stress but can ease chronic pain and prevent diseases caused by chronic stress.
Not only are you improving on your physical and mental health, but you are also increasing your overall well-being. Meditation can help you gain insights, spark creativity and intuition, help to visualize and manifest your life the way you want it and give you that feeling of well-being.
CBD For Meditation
CBD or cannabidiol is just one of the many cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant. CBD, in particular, is quite beneficial for just about anyone. It is a safe, natural, non-addictive and non-psychoactive compound, many use it as a health supplement while others use it to ease pain, anxiety, depression, insomnia among many other maladies.
CBD oil is an anti-inflammatory and antioxidant, it works with the body by restoring homeostasis to the body/mind. Influencing the receptors within the endocannabinoid system, CBD oil finds problematic areas and works to restore them to their natural balance.
Unlike modern medicine, this natural medicine treats problems at the source, rather than mask the issue. People are finding that CBD truly helps them to relax, de-stress, focus, and ease their aches and pains.
So why use CBD for meditation? Well, it makes perfect sense, there are many yoga studios out there offering CBD to aid in meditation. If you are one that has a hard time focusing, relaxing, are too distracted by particular pain or just sitting still, CBD could be the perfect addition to your practice.
Taking some CBD right before your meditation practice could help you get into that Zen mood much more quickly, allowing you to dive deeper into the meditation and receive the most benefits. Let’s not forget that CBD is also a great health supplement, so you have nothing to lose.
Each person is unique and finding the proper dosage of CBD can be somewhat confusing and may take a little trial and error. There’s a lot of inconsistencies among CBD products as far as concentration goes. Other factors that can vary are the weight of the person, body chemistry which fluctuates day to day and the intensity you are looking for.
Standard dosing is about 1-6mg of CBD per 10pounds of body weight. It’s recommended to start with a small dosage and work your way up to find the optimal dosage particularly for you. Remember CBD is safe, non-addictive, and non-psychoactive, overdoing it may just cause some subtle changes like sleepiness and changes in appetite.

Does CBD Take Away From The Practice Of Meditation?
Let’s take a view on the opposing side of this topic. Some feel CBD oil may take away from the true practice of meditation. Meditation teaches us to use our own will and focus to redirect our mind, discovering one’s own ability to manage pain, stress and so on. If CBD oil is already doing the work for you, then perhaps you will not gain the true techniques and benefits gained through meditation.
I would agree that this is a valid point, but on the other hand, not everyone is trying to gain enlightenment or be a master at meditation, many of us are just looking to let go of all the thoughts, worries and stresses of daily life. If CBD oil can get you to a state of focus and relaxation quickly, you can enjoy the benefits of meditating for a longer duration.
Each person is unique, and I see nothing wrong with using a natural aid to enhance your meditation and health, whether that be CBD, tea, or any other natural herbal supplement to get you relaxed and focused.
I for one believe that cannabis has many therapeutic effects, and sometimes altering your perception even only slightly can help to get you over a problem/anxiety/fixation and lead to some real healing.
Nothing To Lose, Everything To Gain
It’s so important to take our mental and physical health seriously, unfortunately in American Society, health usually comes last when it should come first. We live in a very stressful time, diseases and mental health issues are on the rise, and we need to recognize that unless we learn how to control our stress levels and simplify life we will continue to have a health crisis.
Meditation is one of the many ways that we can recenter. Simply paying attention to your breath can change the chemistry of your brain and relieve stress even altering your DNA. Meditating will result in a healthier life, ultimately preventing diseases, as well as developing much better-coping skills. So find a practice that’s right for you, there are many styles and techniques to get into a meditative state, and if you so happen to add CBD into that practice please leave a comment about your experience.
